News Flash! Varsity/JV1 Schedule Change/Good Sports Coverage

Later tonight, we will post the story about the Varsity's 7-0 win today at Fall Mountain. Because of the one-sided nature of the game, it's been decided that when Fall Mountain comes to Hanover on Saturday for a 1-0 game at Merriman-Branch Field, they will play JV1. As part of that transaction, the game scheduled for October 10th against Mascoma will now be a Varsity game at 1:00. Each Hanover team keeps the same number of games, and each game will hopefully be more competitive. Game report coming up soon. While we have you, we direct yourt attention to a very good way to keep up to day on Upper Valley High School sports. Although the Valley News has had to reduce coverage (smaller paper, smaller staff, much more to cover with all of the jammed-together pro sports), there is a new entity in town. The Octopus Sports Blog has already published a number of detailed, accurate accounts of Hanover sports team. If you check on the link and look, you can see that the Octopus had good stories about all three Lebanon games last weekend. The Octopus is the brainchild of former Valley News staff member (and HHS grad Tris Wykes). He covered mostly Dartmouth sports for the VN, but he knows the high school scene well. Follow this link and check it out: https://octopusathletics.com For now, access is free, but as you will see, there is a modest subscription price: $5/month. It makese sense that if a bunch of Hanover High fans start subscribing and participating, the Octopus may lean toward making sure Hanover gets good coverage. Just a thought.
