Hanover High School Boys Soccer 2020

 The Marauder Varsity defeated Stevens 2-0, shutting the Cardinals out for the second time in a week to improve their record to 4-0-0. Jackson Lake scored his first Varsity goal for the game winner, and Eric Ringer scored in his fourth consecutive game.  Senior CJ Wheelan made two big plays at the end of the match to preserve what thereby became a well-deserved shutout, his second. In outshooting every foe thus far by a wide margin, the Marauders have nevertheless adapted to a COVID-influenced regional schedule, with nary a D1 foe in sight.  Lebanon was a good challenge, and will be even more challenging the next time around,  in the home and home series 10 days hence.  In the meantime, Hanover has been lucky to play teams that know how to defend, and they have refused to be drawn into sloppy or selfish tactics, just because they can.  They have kept the ball on the floor, and patiently switched the point of attack, and worked own the sort of playing style ...

 For the next two weeks, members of the Hanover Soccer program are invited to participate in a public service program that has been supported by Marauder players and families for more than 15 years.  Every October, we are a part of a community effort to raise money to combat hunger both locally and around the world - the CROP Hunger Walk.  We are encouraging players on all four teams to consider participating as walkers, registering as part of the Hanover Soccer "Team",  learning about the impact of the CROP Walk, and soliciting donations.  On a non-pandemic year, all of the walkers would gather in downtown Lebanon on a Sunday afternoon and walk around a 2.5-mile course through Lebanon neighborhoods, on part of the rail trail, and through another neighborhood.  This year, walkers are encouraged to choose their own time and place to walk, with family, with a few socially-distanced friends, or with teammates.  We are planning a possible walk from HHS to ...

 Here are the details on Friday's game at Woodsville: Hanover players are dismissed at 2:15, go the athletic lobby for temperatures (all players, both those traveling by bus, and with parents).  Hanover wil be wearing maroon uniforms. Players who traveled by bus may go home with parents, but must inform Coach Hirschhorn.

 The Freshman team will wear mAroon uniforms on Friday at Woodsville.  Players, please contact each other the ensure that everyone gets this message.  (Just in case you aren't all devotedly reading the blog every day).

 Beginning on Friday, three out of four of the Marauder boys' teams will take to the road.  Two them will be doing it for the first time.  Here's a reminder to timing and protocols. The Freshman team will play at Woodsville High School on Friday.  Dismissal from class is at 2:15.  Under no circumstance should any player leave class before that.  At dismissal time, all players should meet in the athletic lobby, have temperatures taken, and then change into uniforms.  The bus will leave shortly after 2:30, and players driving with parents may leave at the same time. Parents will be allowed to watch the game.  Players traveling to the game on the bus may return home with parents after the game.  Varsity will play Stevens at Monadnock Park in Claremont.   The Varsity will depart at 1:00 and play at 3:00.  All players must have temperatures checked and recorded before boarding the bus.  Players traveling with parents must come to th...

 The Dresden fields are waterlogged, and will be significantly damaged if they are used today. There will be no training for JV1, JV2, and Freshmen today.  We will resume on Thursday.  Varsity practice on the tube at 7:00 is still on.

  The Marauders outshot Stevens 46-2 en route to a 3-0 victory at rain-drenched Merriman-Branch Field Tuesday night. Hanover, now 3-0 on the season, got goals from Dylan Kotlowitz, Henry Aspinwall and Eric Ringer, who has now scored in every Marauder game this season.  Sophomore Ty Nolon made a spectacular save on Brady Moote, his only one, to earn his first career shutout.  Stevens junior Cooper Moote was spectacular in goal, collecting 18 saves, many of them spectacular.   The game began in steady rain, but both teams shrugged off the conditions and players disciplined soccer. Knowing that they were the underdog,  Stevens devoted nine players to defense, and it took patience and great positional play by the Marauders to unlock the Cardinals. With the middle of the field clogged by defenders, most of Hanover's offense was generated on the rinks.  Flank defenders Tucker Monson and Dylan Kotlow...
